Clinical Trials

The treatment of retinal diseases is an ever-evolving area of medicine, marked by continuous advancements in technology and new therapies introduced each year. Our physicians at Southwest Retina Specialists have dedicated nearly a decade to research across a wide range of retinal conditions. Their work includes important contributions in Diabetic Macular Edema, surgical approaches for Vitreous Hemorrhage, and advanced treatments for Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD).

Our physicians have also partnered with leading sponsors on several major clinical trials. Among the most notable were the ISEE2008 and ISEE2009 studies for the drug Izervey by Astellas Pharmaceuticals, where they enrolled a study-high 15 patients. Their efforts helped pave the way for FDA approval of Izervey to treat geographic atrophy caused by Dry AMD. Other important trials, such as the GLOW and DAYLIGHT studies by Kodiak Sciences, have further advanced research that is shaping the future of care.

This commitment to ongoing research ensures that patients everywhere benefit from the most current and effective treatments available.

While clinical trials are always voluntary, patients must undergo a screening process before enrollment to qualify. The eligibility and criteria for each study vary.

If you are interested in being screened for a clinical trial or would like more information about ongoing studies, please contact our Research Coordinator, Kasey Dalrymple, at (806) 350-1113.
